The Limiar (Threshold) Orchestra was founded in 2002 by the doctor, conductor and composer Samir Rahme. It is a project that transcends entertainment: is an orchestra with social functions.
In 2003 was born the Music in Hospitals, a winning initiative that has brought the orchestra to more than 140 performances at hospitals throughout the country. Through this project thousands of people have had the opportunity to come into contact with a classical repertoire and elevate their mood with the healing power of music.
The orchestra has two CDs containing pieces commissioned from Brazilian composers, as well as some pieces by the members and the conductor of the group.
